Weekly Poll: Are You “Innie” or an “Outie”

December 15th, 2008 by Casey .

As lunch time rolls around and I prepare to enjoy the the meal I’ve brought from home, I realize that it wasn’t ever thus. There was a time when three days a week I’d be out for lunch with friends, peers, clients. I didn’t give it a thought.

“Where shall we go today?” was a regular question.

Liberty Oak for some soup and a glass of wine?”

Fisher’s Grille for a Reuben sandwich?”

lunch-box-3

“How about Ganache for a Ceasar Salad?”

But now I bring my lunch as well as some healthy snacks in a cool old stainless steel lunch kit that’s been around our house for years.

And I like it just fine.

Oh, I still have lunch out. Just not nearly as often. But there’s something satifying – as well as helpful with portion control – about packing my lunch and making the most out of last night’s left overs.

It got to wondering how many others are forgoing lunching out for lunching in?

So, that’s this week’s poll. Are you an “innie” or an “outie”?

It never occurred to me to make lunch out a regular thing. There have been weeks that we forgot to do the grocery shopping, or that I really just wanted to treat myself a LOT to some good ol’ Tomato Head for hummus and veg, but for the very most part, I’m a lunch in person.

You can’t be $2 worth of leftovers!

I have to admit the the “doing lunch” thing is something that came with age. Previously, lunch out meant showing up at the kids’ school cafeteria. Or maybe the back yard!
