WHEN IS ENOUGH ENOUGH?
/Weight Loss Fluctuations (9.29.2025 to 10.5.2025)
Life. Sometimes it’s a monotonous drone of sameness, neither awesome nor awful. Other times it feels like we’re being swept by our ankles along a jet stream, barely able to poke our noses above the current enough to catch a breath. Life seems to be stretches of “not enough” alternating with intervals of “way too much.”
Deciding to change course can be due to either of those circumstances. Sometimes we recognize that enough is enough. It’s (past) time to choose something different.
I’m there, at that place, where I need to decide what I want to do going forward. And not for the first time. Like most adults, I’ve been faced with the challenges of choosing to keep the status quo or doing the opposite, rocking the boat, shaking up the freakin’ quo. It was just such a moment when I had had enough of feeling the way I felt, way back in 2014. I hurt, to my bones and in my brain. I’ve written about all that before. And I’ve shared how I’ve been figuring out what to do with myself going forward. Because there are days when things are not enough, followed my those ‘way too much’ times. And that’s okay. That’s the human condition.
Perhaps you, too, are feeling buffeted between the highs and lows, boredom and terror, Mondays and Saturdays of life. (That last one may be pretty vague, but I bet you get it.) And you may want to make a change, health- and weight-wise, but looking around you find that there is much too much information about what to do while simultaneously realize there’s very little reliable guidance to feel good about.
And maybe you’ve had enough.
I feel you on that. I’ve been there. I’m often still there, just not about the food thing, After three decades of confusion and self-deprecation, laying off the carbs and off the excuses is effortless. I need to figure out a long list of other things, but the food is a done deal.
I suggest that if you’re at that place where enough is enough, where the thought of starting yet another Monday or January first to start feeling better is more than you can stand, don’t wait. Start right now. This moment. Take it one decision, one meal, at a time. When enough is enough, call it. Then change it.
If I can do this, you can do this. I promise.
Now, to figure out the next thing on my list.
Sheesh.
Disclaimer: I’m not a medical doctor, researcher, or Ph.D., but instead, I’ve been fortunate to have had the time and resources to research the ketogenic diet, also known as LCHF (low carb/high fat). The information I share is based solely on my understanding of that research. We are all responsible for our own choices, including what we put in our mouths, and there’s no substitute for each of us checking things out ourselves. And I’m not a medical professional in any way. Go Keto With Casey is not a medical site. “Duh,” you might say. But best to make it clear to all. I welcome questions, comments, and even civil criticism. I’m still learning. So, if you have something to add, go for it.
