One of the great things about the ketogenic diet when I first started was that I didn't need to worry about counting calories. Counting fat grams and protein ounces? Nah. Didn't worry about those. I just needed to make sure my total daily carbs were below 20 grams. I knew that most animal products are nearly carb free (eggs have just a bit and dairy products do as well). So if I avoided anything non-animal based, I had no problem losing weight. In the first 3 months I lost 38.2 pounds. It was a wonder. I had tried to lose just 10 pounds for 20 years, following the low-fat, eat less move more mandate.

"So, what do you eat?"

When people learn that I've lost quite a bit of weight - 83.9 pounds - since starting to follow a ketogenic nutritional protocol the initial response is frequently "wow!". That is followed closely by wondering what I eat. Then there are a series of cascading comments regarding my health. I'll write about those elsewhere.
